Market News & Headlines >> Corn Producers Complying with Refuge Rules

The National Corn Growers Association released the results of its survey of growers’ practices regarding refuge areas designed to reduce the development of insects resistant to Bt rootworm control. It found that the use of at least one in-bag refuge seed has grown from 50% in 2012 to 75% in 2013. The survey also confirmed that the majority of producers do comply with the size and distance requirements for Bt rootworm refuge and the percent who say they didn’t plant any refuge acres is less than 10%.
