May U.S. ethanol exports were down about 14% from April, but up 22% from a year earlier, while May distiller’s grains exports rose 26% from April and were up 9% year-over-year, according to U.S. Census Bureau trade data.  

Ethanol exports totaled 64.6 million gallons in May, down from 84.0 million gallons in April, but up from 53.1 million gallons in May 2014.  Year-to-date exports were up 6% from a year earlier.

Distiller’s grain exports totaled 1.172 million metric tons in May, up from 928,000 in April and 1.077 million tons in May 2014. The monthly total was the second highest on record. Record large monthly export shipments to China of nearly 865,000 tons accounted for 93% of total May exports. Year-to-date distiller’s grains exports of 4.536 million tons were down 9.2% from a year earlier.
