In the search for how the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus is spreading from one operation to another, feed deliveries have been on the list since the disease first hit the United States. Now, the National Grain and Feed Association is going to donate $60,000 to the National Pork Board for research on the possible connection. It will look at possible contamination of the feed itself through each step in the chain, as well as look at whether pigs take sick after consuming feed that contains genetic material for PEDv, as might occur through swine blood products used in feed.
