Market News & Headlines >> Trump Ag Secretary Search Continues

President-elect Donald Trump’s search for a new Secretary of Agriculture continues this week with new candidates entering the picture.

A Trump spokesman on Wednesday said the President-elect had plans to interview former California Lieutenant Gov. Abel Maldonado, Jr., and Texas A&M Professor Elsa Murano, a former Agriculture undersecretary for food safety, for the Ag secretary post this week.

Meanwhile, POLITICO reported that Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida estate, on Friday to meet with incoming White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist Steve Bannon.

Secretary of Agriculture has frequently been one of the last cabinet positions filled by incoming presidents, but Trump’s selection process has now stretched out longer than any in recent history.
