U.S. biodiesel production for October of 107 million gallons was unchanged from a month earlier, but 12.3% below a year earlier, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Thursday. 

About 68% of the monthly production came from the Midwest region. There were 807 million pounds of biodiesel feedstocks used in October. Soybean oil remained the largest biodiesel feedstock, with 408 million pounds used, about 51% of the total. The monthly soyoil usage was up 18 million pounds from September, but down 51 million from a year earlier. 

Producer sales of biodiesel during October included 66 million gallons sold as B100 (100% biodiesel) and an additional 39 million gallons of B100 sold in biodiesel blends with diesel fuel derived from petroleum, the EIA said.

U.S. biodiesel imports during October slipped to 36.25 million gallons (863,000 barrels) from 38.93 million gallons (927,000 barrels) in September, however, imports were up more than 70% from a year earlier.
