Market News & Headlines >> USDA Delays Release of Key Reports

USDA will delay several major U.S. and world crop reports that were scheduled for release on Jan. 11 due to the partial government shutdown, the agency said in a statement on Friday.

The new release date of the reports, including USDA's monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report; its quarterly Grain Stocks report; the annual Crop Summary Report (final U.S. crop production for 2018) and its annual Winter Wheat Seedings report, will be determined once government funding is restored, the statement said.

This will add to uncertainty in markets, which are already dealing with uncertainty about U.S. export sales due to the suspension of USDA’s daily export sales reporting system and its weekly Export Sales reports.

President Trump and congressional leaders were to meet again on Friday to discuss breaking the government funding impasse.
